Probably like a lot of you, things have been overwhelming lately. So many feelings, so much stuff going on and your mind is trying to wrap itself around everything that’s happening right now. Most of us have not been through anything like this pandemic. We’ve been through some tragedies, we’ve been through things that we had to overcome, but this is big right? So I had to wrap my head around what the hell was going on and a lot of feelings came up for me and I was tired, I was exhausted and I just wanted my blanket and netflix and I didn’t want to show my face. This is a quick list of things that all entrepreneurs need to know but not too many talk about. Some are things I didn't realize I was signing up for but are crucial to being successful.

First, I did not realize as an entrepreneur you have to look inside of yourself more often than you are comfortable with because this is where most of the answers are.

Not one second did I believe that I would think that starting my business. We think that we have an awesome idea and that we’re awesome at what we do and think people will just come, but they don’t. This is not a business of dreams, if you build it, they will not necessarily just come. I’m not saying that it doesn’t happen for some people, but for most of us it doesn’t happen. 80% of the reason for that is us. Stay committed to your purpose

Are you staying 100% committed to your purpose? I wasn’t.

We are on day 5 of self-quarantine and it is so extremely difficult to focus on positivity right now although that is exactly what we need to get through this.

I just had to sit back, not look at my computer and breathe deep for about 10 minutes because thoughts of uncertainty started to overwhelm me. My brain was racing 100 miles an hour and I felt like I just couldn’t think straight. I knew that if I didn’t step back and stop flooding myself with everyone else's words and thoughts that I would drown in the panic and overwhelm everyone is feeling right now.

So I turned it all off and sat in my chair and just started to breathe deeply and released all the tension in my body. I needed to focus on my own thoughts because I couldn’t tell what were mine and what werent. Your Brand Messaging - Writing your copy

Compelling content should tell a story, be captivating, be clear, and evoke emotion.

There are different types of content:

  • Longform content, blog podcasts and video. These things are called longform because they have a lot of words and you can repurpose them easily. 
  • Short form content includes posts, stories, short videos on Instagram stories. All of those are short form and you want to create a system that works for you that breaks down your long form into smaller posts and repurpose your content. There’s no reason you have to be on that content creation hamster wheel and be creating new content all the time. 

Then distribute your content everywhere you are online.

Use automated scheduling, but make sure you’re staying true to the platform you’re posting to. Do not push Instagram posts to Facebook. It’s lazy and your Facebook audience will feel second best.

I'm sure a lot of you have heard the quote, or saying that you need to be authentic when it comes to your brand. And people are like, what does that even mean? I think we all know the word authentic means being real, being the true you.
